The Depoe Bay Research Outpost is a design studio project based on the program for a structure to hold up to fifteen students and two professors for stays of two weeks at a time. In addition to sleeping accommodations, the outpost acts as a community center for the city of Depoe Bay, providing social and cooking spaces for local events.
The design stretches from the bay to the cliffs above, allowing access to both the water and the cliffs above. Each two person dorm style room has built in storage and balconies for private reprieve. A large commercial kitchen connects to an open dining hall with views out to the Pacific. The top floor accomodates two professors in single rooms as well as a conference room and sunset deck.
